    Tomorrow she would marry into the Chen ministry. The ceremony would be broadcast on the Republic's official channels, a showcase of unity between two families who had served the New Order faithfully for three generations. The state propaganda apparatus would call it a celebration of traditional values. Alissa knew it for what it was: a transfer of clearance levels.


    She worked in the Ministry of Information's archival division, which meant she had access to documents that had been classified before she was born. And in those documents, she had found a pattern that made her blood run cold.
