The Golden Circuit
The dream was always the same: a field of gold that moved like water, and in the center, a vine that breathed. I woke with the taste of copper in my mouth and the smell of damp stone in my nose. It is the fourteenth of November, 1342, and the frost has crept into the walls of the Abbey of Saint Jude, but I cannot feel the cold.
