The Faded Road
The ink was dry before the quill left the page. Thomas Bradshaw stared at the parchment. The nib had just cut the fiber, yet the black fluid vanished, leaving the vellum pristine, white, and empty. He dipped the quill again. He wrote the date, the sum, the name of the debtor. The words appeared for a fraction of a second, a ghostly scrawl, and then they were gone. The parchment remained blank....
