The coat was heavy. It weighed more than I remembered. I carried it by the shoulder, the fabric dragging against the wet pavement. The rain did not fall. It hung. A gray, suspended mist clung to the city. The buildings were tall and dark. They watched me. I walked fast. My legs felt wooden. I was in Sector Four. The walls here were white. Too white. They reflected the pale light from the lamps....
