The Golden Greenhouse
The fog was thick. It tasted of iron and old rain. I stood in the center of the glasshouse. The air hummed. It was a low, constant vibration. Like a held breath. I was alone. Or so I thought. The vines were thick here. They climbed the iron ribs. They pulsed with a faint, green light. Not sunlight. Something else. I touched a leaf. It was warm. It bit back. A sharp sting. I pulled my hand away....
