The glass was thick. Heavy. It sat on the table in the center of the room, catching the gaslight and throwing long, fractured shadows against the wallpaper. Elias stared at it. It was a mirror. But not a normal one. It was a piece of the old world, salvaged from the ruins of the Grand Hotel, a slab of silvered glass that had seen too many faces and too many lies. He picked it up.
