The Golden Farce
The hall smelled of roasting boar and old wax. Torin stood at the edge of the feast. He was small. Too small. His hands were red. The firelight caught the veins in his wrists. He watched the King. The King sat on the high seat. He ate with his fingers. He did not look up. Torin knew the game. Everyone knew the game. But only Torin played it for his life. "Who brings the wine?" the King asked....
