"You will correct the margin." The voice does not come from behind you. It comes from the air, a low hum that vibrates in the teeth. You are seven. You are holding the Book. The Book is heavy, heavier than your arms. The pages are not paper. They are skin, pale and stretched tight over the ink. The ink is black and wet. It smells of iron and old rain. "Correct the margin," the Voice says again....
