The Faded Frequency
The ink was cold. It sat in the well like a black eye, staring back at me with a patience that felt ancient. I dipped the pen. The nib scratched against the paper, a sound like dry leaves skittering over stone. I am writing this from the attic of the Whitmore Estate. The roof leaks here. Not much. Just enough to keep the air damp, to keep the mold alive in the corners where the wallpaper peels...
