The hive hung in the dark. It was not a real hive. Not wood and wax and amber light. It was a geometry of teeth. A grid of black holes. Malcolm stared up at it. The ceiling of the Senate hearing room was high. Vaulted. But in his dream, it was close. Pressing down. The bees were black. They did not buzz. They clicked. A dry, chattering sound. Like bones snapping. He tried to blink them away....
