The train cut through the grey morning, a steel beast breathing steam into the cold air. Margaret sat by the window, her reflection ghostly against the passing fields. She held her ticket in her hand, the paper thin and fragile. The destination was the Whitmore Estate. She was going to see her husband. Or what remained of him. The journey was long.
