The Distant Nightmare
The rain in Sector 4 did not wash things clean. It only made the grime slicker. I stood in the center of the command room, the air thick with the smell of ozone and stale coffee. The monitors glowed with a pale, sickly blue light. They showed me everything. They showed me the streets below, choked with grey smog and the slow, shuffling figures of the poor. I watched them. I watched them crawl....
