Miles stood in the doorway. The light was wrong. It did not come from a sun. It hummed. It tasted like copper and old dust. He looked at his hands. They were translucent. He could see the veins beneath the skin, pulsing with a rhythm that was not his own. The room behind him was gone. There was only the corridor. It stretched out into a white void. There were no walls. There were no floors....
