The room was white. It was a white that hurt. It pressed against your eyes like a physical weight. You sat in the chair by the window. The glass was cold against your forehead. You could feel the chill seeping into your bone. Outside, the garden was dead. The grass was brown and brittle. The trees had no leaves. They stood like skeletal fingers pointing at a grey sky.
