The classroom was built from three modified habitat modules bolted together in a row. The walls were corrugated metal painted the same faded blue everywhere. The windows looked out over a landscape of red dust and jagged rock that had not seen green anything in three hundred years. Twelve children sat at desks made from recycled composite panels. They were between ten and sixteen years old....
