The Geometric Loop

Act I: The Ascent Nova lived in Sector 4, a world of white plastic and right angles. Her life was a series of optimized intervals, monitored by the Eye of the Collective. Her grandmother had been designated "Obsolete" and moved to the Perimeter, a grey zone where the laws of geometry began to fray. Nova was permitted one visit per lunar cycle. She walked the designated path, her red jumpsuit a violation of the sector's color code, carrying a data-cube of memories to share with the old woman.

Act II: The Undercurrent Halfway to the Perimeter, Nova encountered the Administrator. He was a man of perfect symmetry, his voice a synthesized monotone. He didn't stop her; he simply questioned her trajectory. He began to explain the "Theory of the Loop," suggesting that the path she was taking was not a line, but a circle. He showed her data-logs of previous visits, proving that every step she took was a repetition of a step taken a thousand times before. He spoke of the "efficiency of the cycle," arguing that the desire to reach the Perimeter was itself a programmed response designed to keep the citizens in a state of perpetual longing.

Act III: The Eruption Nova reached the Perimeter and found her grandmother's pod. But the woman inside was not her grandmother; she was a mirror image of Nova herself, aged by a thousand cycles. The woman looked at her with a hollow gaze and whispered, "You are the twelfth version of this visit." The Administrator appeared behind her, explaining that the "grandmother" was simply a biological anchor used to test the emotional stability of the subjects. There was no Perimeter, no grandmother, only a simulated environment designed to study the persistence of familial attachment in a post-family society.

Act IV: The Echo Nova walked back toward Sector 4, but the path had changed. The right angles were now curves, and the white plastic was turning to grey ash. She looked up and saw herself, in a red jumpsuit, walking toward the Perimeter from the opposite direction. She didn't call out. She simply stood still and watched her other self pass by, realizing that the only way to escape the loop was to stop walking. She sat down on the geometric floor and waited for the system to reboot, a small, red dot in a world of perfect, empty white.
