## Chapter 1: Mind Reading

XiaMo had always felt something was off. After a brain CT scan for migraines, she found she could hear things she should not hear.

'ShengQiShen, this report -' 'Good.'

She heard a second voice, deeper, more real: Your hair looks nice today.

She turned. He stood by the printer, calm and professional. The second voice was his heart.

In the following days, it got more frequent.

When he said 'This proposal is good,' she heard: She is more careful than I imagined.

When he said 'I agree,' she heard: Whatever she chooses, cannot be wrong.

When he said 'Thank you for your hard work,' she heard: Do not overwork yourself.

Every time. Every surface word was平淡, every heart word was warm enough to make you cry.

## Chapter 2: Ten Years

On the weekend, meeting ChuFei for coffee: 'I recently gained a superpower. Mind reading. Especially his.'

'Especially who?' 'ShengQiShen.' 'And what is he thinking?' 'Like: dont get hurt.'

Ten years. Every interference, every teasing, every prank - was the same sentence.

Dont get hurt.

## Chapter 3: The Last Read

The ability disappeared a week later. Just like it came suddenly, it went suddenly.

She felt loss. Not because the ability was gone, but because some words she had not gotten to hear from his mouth.

'ShengQiShen, do you actually like me?' That was a question she hoped to hear from his heart. But now she had to hear it from his mouth.

'I like you,' he said. 'From the moment you held that pink letter and walked toward someone else.'

She smiled. Tears fell. She understood: the mind-reading ability was not to hear hidden words, but to give herself courage to hear spoken words.

'This time,' she held his hand, 'no more waiting.' 'This time I will not wait,' he said.
