The silence in the house was not an absence of sound, but a presence of something heavy and suffocating. Julian didn't remember when the other one had arrived, but he called him The Guest. The Guest lived in the mirrors, in the shadows of the hallway, and in the gaps between Julian's thoughts. He was a polished version of Julian—sharper, colder, and devoid of the hesitation that made Julian a failure.

The Guest began to suggest "exercises." Small acts of sabotage. A letter burned, a secret leaked, a relationship severed. At first, Julian resisted, but the Guest's voice was the only thing that felt honest. "You are a footnote in your own life, Julian," the Guest would whisper. "I am the headline."

They began to meet in the attic, a space of dust and forgotten trunks. There, Julian would allow the Guest to take over, to act out the violent impulses that Julian had spent a lifetime suppressing. It was a symbiotic relationship; Julian provided the body, and the Guest provided the will. Together, they created a secret society of "The Awakened," men who sought to purge their weaknesses through a ritual of mutual destruction.

But the boundary between them began to blur. Julian would wake up in places he didn't recognize, with blood under his fingernails and memories that didn't belong to him. He tried to fight back, to reclaim his mind, but he discovered a terrifying truth: the Guest was not a separate entity. The Guest was the original, and Julian was merely the residue, the leftover scrap of a personality that had been discarded.

The Guest didn't want to coexist; he wanted to consume. He began to erase Julian's memories, one by one, replacing them with a narrative of dominance and cruelty. Julian felt himself shrinking, becoming a passenger in his own skin, a scream trapped in a locked room.

In the final hour, Julian found a way to communicate—a small, handwritten note left on the bathroom mirror. *I am still here.* The Guest looked at the note and laughed. He didn't erase the note; he simply erased the part of Julian that knew how to read. Julian watched, horrified and mute, as the world turned into a series of meaningless shapes, while the Guest stepped out into the sunlight, wearing Julian's face like a trophy.
