(V-06: New York Realism - Reaper's Perspective)

Log Entry: Agent 402. Department of Finality. Subject: Marcus Thorne. Occupation: Hedge Fund Manager. Status: Terminated (Delayed).

The subject, Marcus Thorne, was flagged for extraction on June 12th. Standard procedure. However, upon arrival, the subject exhibited a highly atypical response. Instead of the customary terror or denial, Thorne attempted to initiate a negotiation.

It was a fascinating display of human arrogance. Thorne believed that the laws of the universe were similar to the laws of the SEC—that everything had a price and every rule had a loophole. He attempted to bribe me using a combination of offshore accounts, high-yield bonds, and a sincere, albeit poorly executed, appeal to "mutual professional respect."

I found the interaction amusing. I have processed four billion souls, and Thorne was the first to offer me a 15% commission on his estate in exchange for a one-year extension.

I decided to grant the extension, not out of greed—as we have no use for currency—but as a sociological experiment. I wanted to observe how a man who believes he has "bought" his life behaves when he knows the debt is still outstanding.

For twelve months, I monitored Thorne. He didn't use the time for redemption. Instead, he spent it trying to find a way to permanently corrupt the Department's ledger. He hired occultists, consulted with rogue physicists, and attempted to build a "spiritual firewall" around his consciousness. He treated his survival as a business problem to be solved.

His hubris was exquisite. He actually began to believe that he was smarter than the system. He stopped fearing me and started viewing me as a competitor in a high-stakes game of chess.

On the final day, I returned to his office on the 64th floor of the Thorne Tower. He was waiting for me, a smug smile on his face, holding a document he claimed was a legally binding contract that rendered my authority void.

I didn't read the document. I simply reached out and deleted his existence.

The transition was instantaneous. One moment he was a titan of industry; the next, he was a shivering, naked soul in the grey void, realizing that his "contracts" were nothing more than scrap paper in the face of the Absolute.

Observation: The illusion of control is the most effective form of torture for the narcissistic mind.

Case Closed.
