The Forbidden Coordinates
The clinic was a place of white walls and soft lighting, designed to soothe the fractured minds of the elite. Dr. Aris Thorne was the best in his field, a specialist in "Cognitive Displacement."
His new patient, a man named Julian, claimed to be a refugee from a "Deleted World."
"It wasn't a dream, Doctor," Julian said, his voice trembling. "It was a reality. A world where the laws of physics were slightly different, where we had solved the problem of energy, but at the cost of our empathy. We lived in a paradise of ice and logic."
Aris smiled. He had heard these delusions before. He began a series of hypnotic inductions, attempting to map the "imaginary" world in Julian's mind.
But as the sessions progressed, Aris noticed something strange. Julian was describing landmarks, historical events, and mathematical constants that Aris had never encountered, yet they felt intuitively correct. Julian began to teach Aris a new form of calculus, a "Forbidden Geometry" that allowed for the folding of space.
"I didn't escape my world," Julian whispered during the twelfth session. "I was the one who deleted it. I found the coordinate of the void, and I pushed the button. I am the only survivor of a genocide I committed for the sake of a mathematical proof."
Aris became obsessed. He stopped seeing other patients. He spent his nights practicing the Forbidden Geometry, tracing the coordinates Julian had provided. He wanted to see the Deleted World. He wanted to know if the logic was as beautiful as Julian claimed.
One night, Aris found the final coordinate. He closed his eyes and shifted his consciousness, following the geometric path.
He didn't find a paradise of ice. He found a wasteland of screaming ghosts. He saw the ruins of a civilization that had traded its soul for a formula. He saw the faces of the billions he had just "re-activated" by observing them.
The act of observing the Deleted World had brought it back into existence, but only as a parasitic layer over his own reality.
Aris opened his eyes to find the clinic walls bleeding. The white light was turning into a void. Julian was gone, replaced by a mirror image of Aris himself, smiling with a cold, mathematical precision.
"Welcome to the coordinates," the mirror said. "Now, let's see what happens when we delete this world."
