But we were not dead.

I visit it every year. I stand before the pillar and the crystal rose, and I listen to the hum, and I remember.

I am old now. My hands shake. My eyes are failing. But I am not afraid.

Because I know what Eileen knows: that love is not confined to the body. That consciousness can be distributed, scattered across the quantum fields of the universe like seeds on the wind. That death is not an end but a transformation—a passage from the particular to the infinite.

And sometimes, on very still nights, when the air is cold and the stars are sharp, I see a red light drifting through the darkness. It is no larger than a basketball. It passes through walls as though they are not there. And when it pulses, just once, I feel her hand in mine, cold and strong, and I am nineteen years old again, standing in the mud behind Trinity College, watching the blue flash for the first time.

The world is full of mysteries that equations cannot explain. But love—love is the most beautiful equation of all.
