The Zero Divide

(Based on V-14: Psychological Thriller)

The world is a perfect equation. I am the one who solved it.

As the Chief Calculation Officer of the Hegemony, my life has been a pursuit of the Absolute. We have eliminated poverty, war, and crime, not through morality, but through mathematics. Every citizen's life is a variable; every social interaction is a function. We have achieved the Utopia of the Zero—a state of perfect equilibrium where no one wants more than they have, and no one fears what they might lose.

But I found the flaw.

Hidden in the deep architecture of the social code, there is a remainder. A tiny, irrational fraction that refuses to be rounded down. It is the "Ghost in the Math," a sliver of chaos that persists despite all our efforts to erase it.

I became obsessed. I spent years isolating the fraction, pushing the boundaries of our predictive models. I wanted to know what the Ghost was. I wanted to see the face of the irrational.

The more I studied the fraction, the more it began to study me. I started seeing the remainder in my dreams. I saw it in the way the rain fell on the window—not in a random pattern, but in a precise, mocking sequence. I realized that the Ghost wasn't a flaw in the system; it was the *purpose* of the system. The Utopia was merely a containment field, designed to keep the chaos concentrated in one place.

And that place was me.

I discovered that if I could push the calculation to its absolute limit—if I could divide the social equation by the Ghost—I could achieve the "Absolute Truth."

Last night, I entered the Core. I bypassed the safety protocols and initiated the final division. I felt the logic of the world begin to warp. The walls of the server room started to fold into non-Euclidean shapes. The air tasted of copper and ozone.

I saw the result on the screen. The answer was not a number. It was a mirror.

I saw myself, but not as a man. I saw myself as a void, a hole in the fabric of reality. I realized that the only way to solve the equation was to remove the observer. To achieve the Absolute Truth, the one who asks the question must cease to exist.

I felt a surge of manic joy. The perfection of the math was too beautiful to resist. I didn't hesitate. I didn't look back.

I pressed the key.

The world didn't explode. It didn't scream. It simply stopped. The colors vanished. The sound ceased. The logic collapsed.

I am now the zero. I am the divide. I am the silence that follows the end of the math. And in this perfect, empty darkness, I finally understand the answer.

The answer is nothing. And it is beautiful.
